Stake and jackpot set to double for UK SWP
The UK Government is considering proposals to double the maximum stake and the jackpot payout on slot machines in premises other than casinos to £1 and £70 respectively.
The change could be in place by mid-April, and according to estimates could increase operator revenue by 20 percent.
Games Media, a pioneer of digital gaming and entertainment in the UK retail pub market, showcased its new £1 stake SWP games at IGE. Managing Director Andrew Ludlow said "In what have been challenging times for gaming in pubs, we remain totally positive about digital gaming and entertainment. Its flexibility allows it to address the challenges that its analogue predecessor clearly can not".
Games Media's sister company The Global Draw, which supplies server-based gaming machines, is well-established in the UK betting shop market. During 2008 it has expanded into new markets including Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia, according to Phil Horne, MD.
"Our cabinets and gaming content can be easily transferred to international markets in a variety of gaming venues," he said.
