Editor's Comment – December 2006
This year's G2E show was epic to say the least. Great new technology, huge stands, and a warm welcome to all visitors from one of the world's most exciting industries. You can read the first part of Casino International's G2E show report starting on page 34 if you couldn't make it to Vegas.
The show was all about SBG and partnerships; companies almost across the board are teaming up where they have complementary skills; in the long-term, this means better product for both the casino operator and the casino customer. It means greater and more focussed investment in a sector which thrives on exactly that. Casino managers are going to be hiring as many IT experts as maintenance staff in the near future when so much will be manageable from the back-office set-up. That's something the new technology in Vegas really brought home.
Meanwhile, check out star columnists Sharon Harris and Ricki Chavez Munoz on pages 14 and 16 respectively, and there's a special feature on the superb course on offer at Blackpool and Fylde College to train casino staff. If you're not already aware of it, I think you're in for a wonderful surprise – that begins on page 28.
