I’ve been thinking about Bally’s 75th anniversary celebrations. It’s a rare thing for a company to last 75 years in what is a technology and innovations industry, never mind to consistently be at the forefront of that industry. It’s an impressive achievement, particularly when you think of how many companies are bought out, taken over or simply fail.

Partnerships are becoming increasingly important in our industry as we work toward making the customer king. That’s going to be the end result of the move toward a fully networked casino environment, a gaming area where the consumer decides what to play based largely on the quality of the game itself.

Within such an environment, the cream will undoubtedly rise to the top, as the next generation of casino players have been brought up on increasingly sophisticated video games, and they will expect to be entertained at the very least. It’s going to mean some changes, but the larger companies in the casino industry are already leading the way into this exciting future.
