Fournier celebrates its 140th anniversary...
Spanish playing card maker Fournier is celebrating its 140th anniversary in 2008, and the year got off to a good start, for Fournier with figures for 2007 showing a 28 percent increase, year-on-year, in sales to casinos.
According to Javier Berasategui Fournier's Export Sales Manager, there are two key drivers for this increase: a move towards quality cards in the casino industry; and the recent boom in poker, a game that demands 100 percent plastic cards - a speciality of Fournier.
The company began life in 1868 as a small "atelier" in the town of Vitoria, Spain. www.nhfournier.es
