The Californian slot machine market grew by over a quarter in early February, following a successful campaign by four Indian tribes to gain voter approval for up to 17,000 new slot machines at four Casinos. Further growth may result if other tribes in the state press to increase the number of slots they are allowed to run.
Other recent announcements in the USA have pleased slot machine manufacturers - expansion of a further 30,000 machines in Maryland and Kansas is under consideration, and approval has been given for an additional 6,000 slots in Florida. "Obviously we're very happy," said Bally Technologies Chief Operating Officer Gavin Isaacs.
