France opens up?
The French government has announced that it is to put an end to the Pari Mutuel Urbain and Francaises des Jeux state-run monopolies with legislation that is expected to be enacted later this year.
Lotteries and casino games will not be included in the bill, which goes part-way to satisfying the demands from private companies that France should comply with European Union competition laws.
