Marjolein Clarijs from Holland Casino Breda won the 2009 European Dealer Championship organised by the European Casino Association (ECA) and hosted by the Casino Cosmopol in Malmö, Sweden.

The two-day competition involved 30 top dealers from 19 countries, who were called on to demonstrate their skills and craftsmanship at Blackjack and American Roulette to a panel of 29 judges. Dealers' performance was evaluated in a range of categories, including hospitality and communication skills, technical expertise, discretion, and control of the game.

The final saw five women and one man pitching their professional skills against each other. "I feel so excited to have won," said Marjolein Clarijs. "It's a great compliment for my 13 years of work as a dealer and croupier." Second place went to Matti Kankainen from Grand Casino Helsinki, followed by Carmen de Lange from Holland Casino Rotterdam.

The event was sponsored by Novomatic, TCSJOHNHUXLEY, Fournier, ICS Europe, GPI and CARD Shuffle Master.
