Video catches poker cheats
Two London card cheats were sent to prison after digital video recording helped catch them. The men, reported to be 24 and 46, were recorded making a total of seven cheat moves on two separate visits to the London Clubs casino at the Empire, Leicester Square. Their actions included card swapping under the table during three-card poker.
The men, one of whom was said to have used a false name and the other of whom was reported to have worn a wig, pleaded guilty to cheating at gambling. Their convictions are believed to be the first for this offence obtained under Britain's 2005 Gambling Act.
Footage from Visimetrics Fastar Digital Evidence Recorders was used by the Clubs and Vice Unit of London's Metropolitan Police force in the case.
London Clubs Head of Security Doug Reeman said: "The clarity of images we obtained from Fastar undoubtedly contributed to the guilty pleas entered, and underlines the efficacy of both the surveillance team and the technology that backs them up".
