Microgaming extends network as player scores record win

Microgaming has added two more online services to its poker network - 5050Poker and Mansion88.

Mattias Eriksson, CEO of 5050Poker, said: "Our players wanted the chance to play against a truly global opposition on a platform that offered improved game and tournament selection as well as greater liquidity."

Separately, a Unibet player has won a record amount through Microgaming's Bad Beat Jackpot feature, gaining 151,000 Euro when their straight flush was beaten by a higher straight flush.

The feature, which Microgaming says draws many new customers toward its poker network, allows players to win the special jackpot when they hold a hand that would normally see off all comers, but against substantial odds is beaten by an even better hand.

As the company puts it, the Bad Beat Jackpot "takes what would ordinarily be seen as a tragically unlucky event and rewards it with a lifechanging jackpot win".
