Genting opens doors at Singapore resort

Genting is this month opening the first phase of its $4.4bn Resorts World Sentosa development in Singapore.

The complex debuts with 1350 rooms and ten restaurants across the Hard Rock Hotel, Hotel Michael and Crockfords Tower, as well as the Festive Hotel, which – unusually for a casino resort – is designed specifically for families with children.

Also due to open earlier this year are a Universal Studios theme park and the resort’s casino, although Genting still awaits the final go-ahead and licensing from Singapore’s government.

Future additions will include two further hotels and a spa as well as a marine-life park and a maritime museum.

In Da Nang, Vietnam, meanwhile, the Crowne International Casino in the Silver Shores International Resort has opened to foreign guests.

Aimed mainly at players from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan – local Vietnamese will not be permitted to gamble there – it offers Baccarat, Blackjack, Caribbean Stud Poker, Roulette and Sic Bo.

The $1.6bn complex, scheduled to be completed in July, will also include a 584-room hotel and 52 villas on the beach.
