Comma component

Quixant will show a PC motherboard designed specially for the Italian Comma 6a market at the Enada show in Rimini this month.

The QXi-106, based on an AMD chipset and including game storage, is compliant with requirements of the Italian regulator AAMS. “This is the first PC-based product designed from the ground up to comply with the special Italian gaming requirements,” said Sales Director Gary Mullins.

Online launch

Greek firm Centric Multimedia and Britain’s Dragonfish are partnering on a new online casino aimed at southern and eastern European consumers. Dragonfish will supply the online casino and Poker technology to Centric’s subsidiary Lex Online Entertainment, as well as providing risk-management services, payment processing and customer support.

Athens-listed Centric will handle marketing. Said Dragonfish MD Gabi Campos: “Dragonfish has a strong track record in launching localised gaming solutions tailored for emerging markets.”

Winning wallet

New customers for Neovia Financial’s Neteller e-wallet include Malta-registered BeatYa! and Uwin, Austrian bookmaker GWBet, and Sega Games. The Neteller technology was recently named best payment system for affiliates for a third consecutive year at the iGaming Affiliate Awards.

Bally bonus

Bally Technologies has extended its contract to supply video gaming terminals to the New York Lottery for a further seven years.

The terminals, supplied by Bally to the lottery since 2004, are deployed in the state’s eight racinos, where it currently has more than 6400 units installed. New York Lottery Director Gordon Medenica said: “Bally’s video game content has proven to be very popular with our customers and is helping us deliver increases in net win across our casino network.”

Live dealers

Sportingbet is to offer Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat using Evolution Gaming’s live dealer software. Evolution’s Sales and Marketing Manager Fredrik Osterberg said: “The move towards live dealer gaming has steadily gathered pace over the past two years as gambling operators have accepted its potential to help attract new players, re-activate existing ones, and – compared with traditional random number generators – increase player lifetime.”

Nevada closure

Casino MonteLago in Henderson, Nevada is closing. Commentators blamed the lack of surrounding population and the paucity of other leisure businesses at the site, 17 miles from the Las Vegas Strip.

Chilean earthquake

Sun International has closed indefinitely its Monticello Casino in the Chilean capital Santiago following the earthquake there in late February. CEO David Coutts-Trotter was quoted as saying:

“There has been significant damage to the casino and retail complex including the convention centre and administration areas, some of it due to the quake and aftershocks and some due to the sprinkler system, which was activated during the tremor.” Five people at the casino when the temblor struck were injured, but only one seriously.

Printer deal

Thermal ticket printer maker FutureLogic is to supply its Gen2 Universal printers to WMS Gaming for inclusion in WMS’s slots.

Full again

Organisers of May’s Latin American Gaming Exhibition (ELA) in Mexico City say that space on the show floor has again sold out, despite increasing it to make room for companies on the waiting list.

The event, to be held 6-7 May, is expected to bring major slot manufacturers from around the globe to Mexico.
