Gaming business in Chita City would be seriously controlled
Published:  01 October, 2006

The number of the gaming halls and machines will be more tightly controlled in 2007, as on January 1, 2007 the new gaming law of Chita Region will come into force.

The development of Chita gaming business becomes more and more large-scale. In 2007 a special control will be imposed over the venues situated in domestic premises and also within buildings of educational, medical and cultural organizations. Those entrepreneurs who ignore the rules would undergo administrative punishment including losing their license.

Alexander Truhin, procurator over the Federal Legislation, commented on the issue: “We shall impose administrative prosecution for violation of the law, and the licenses could be divested by the licensing organizations.”

Furthermore the law will be expanded over the so called “camomile” machines installed in the streets. It was stated by Procuracy and Department of Internal Affairs in Chita Region about the large-scale nonobservance of the license rules by gaming entrepreneurs and that leads to civil rights violations. Often, proprietors of the gaming halls do not even have any documents confirming that the machine is operated in accord with Federal standards. The law-enforcement authorities continue to hope that such drafts and law projects will be able to put the house in order.

Poll

Will the plans for Russia's 'remote' gaming areas go ahead as the State Duma has described?

  • Yes, almost certainly. It's a great idea.
  • Maybe, with a few revisions it could work.
  • Don't be absurd, it's a crazy plan.
