Ricki Chavez-Munoz travels with the Boss guys from Europe to Colombia and South East Asia, to find that gaming is also about loving what you do...
Many companies are born out of market needs, while others see the light via the urgency of daring young guys seeking business opportunities. Greatplan Limited was set up in London two years ago out of a combination of both, as the product of Latin American regional needs for quality multi-stations, starting with electromechanical roulettes (BOSS GAMING), and quickly moving onto the manufacture of other innovative gaming devices to comply with different and exciting jurisdictions.
Using European technology and Latin design, BOSS roulettes soon made their mark at SAGSE Buenos Aires 2005, where they were described as the ‘sexiest’ roulettes in the market. And it is not because of company president Linda Monzon, fashion designer with a couple of fashion shows in Europe, but because everything about the product oozes charm and comfort and even makes money for the lucky casino operators, who zap up the products.
Soon enough, Greatplan decided to serve the burgeoning Latin American market and, aware of the ever increasing number of electromechanical roulette makers, set up in South America with clearly defined policies on product technology, design and service.
Not that the games sell themselves, although some fans do say just that, but acute marketing ideas and proactive customer support are at the fore of this young outfit, as operators just seem to fall for BOSS roulettes.
In May 2006, BOSS GAMING AMERICA S.A. was established at the Bogotá Free Zone in Colombia. Sandi Marinic, CEO says: “Out of all the countries we visited, Colombia was the most attractive because of the ease with which receives investors. We’ve found out that this a country economically stable for the past 50 years. Indeed, this is developed country with all the facilities to do business, with clear gaming legislation for promoting the industry.
“We’ve been very well received by local leaders like Unidelca, Codere, Winner Group, besides other smaller operators, who have given us the opportunity to show them that we have an excellent product. Little by little we are discovering Colombia, which is a hyper-competitive gaming market, where playing safe is not the equivalent to playing smart”.
In markets overflowing with new companies and products, where almost daily someone decides to make a copy of an established product, there is only one way to stay in front, and this is by ensuring a different work ethic based on fresh initiatives, where a company applies its work philosophy with consistency, from the manufacture of its products to the attitude of its people. BOSS GAMING keeps to these precepts and has started a journey in the industry with purpose and vision.
As manufacturers of electromechanical roulettes and electronic bingos, the guys at BOSS GAMING have started on a difficult business trek, and are beginning to make their mark in the electronic games market, earning the respect of operators far and wide in countries like Argentina, Peru, Guatemala, Vietnam, Panama, Colombia, and Cambodia, among others. With no advertising budget to speak of, there is nothing better than word of mouth for the promotion of BOSS roulettes, and its first-class installation and aftersales service are unequalled, well timed and effective, all the way.
Carlos Monzon, head of Boss Gaming America’s Technical and Development division, has very clear view on personalized service: “Each one of our clients has different requirements not only in the same country, but in each specific market, and we diligently note down their comments and criticism for future reference, which we refer to during our service meetings. This and other data, we process and introduce into our development and service work”.
There is no hype in the claim that the guys at BOSS GAMING are ready to trade business blows with the very best in the industry, and to quote one of the most important names in Europe, which strategically must remain anonymous for the time being: “We’ll be establishing a close working relationship with the Boss guys because they are the most dynamic in the region”.
Sometimes the last word is well deserved, and Linda Monzon makes the Greatplan claim: “Nowadays, no one can survive doing things just a shade better than the competition. You have to dedicate to your business with love and care, and this is what we do at BOSS GAMING. We are constantly on the lookout for what goes on around us so that our learning process is multiplied. Our company has a life of its own and is a wonderful project that was born out from our insistence in originality and creativity, where the result is that the gaming devices are the means to do business with people in a multicultural environment, where we are just the tools for progress.”
Will the plans for Russia's 'remote' gaming areas go ahead as the State Duma has described?
