Casino International Editor Jon Bruford's words of wisdom - or otherwise - for the July/August edition. . .
Published:  01 July, 2007

Reed's involvement in G2E Asia seems to have been a resounding success, with only a few minor gripes about the show from exhibitors. It's certainly going to become a key date on the international calendar when it expands into the Venetian next year, and those gripes will hopefully be wiped out.

The moans were minimal – it seems the conference side of the show was extremely successful, and this made foot traffic somewhat sporadic as between speakers, a glut of attendees would race out to the stands, then dash back in for the next talk.

Many exhibitors disliked the show's three-storey spread, as the feeling was that other floors might have had more traffic. In fact, attendance was spread neatly across all three. It may even have helped as, unlike say G2E Las Vegas, the show's size was not overwhelming. Each floor felt like a self-contained market, which is no bad thing. Each level had its own energy, rather than a clutch of stands competing on noise levels and for custom.

Poll

Will the plans for Russia's 'remote' gaming areas go ahead as the State Duma has described?

  • Yes, almost certainly. It's a great idea.
  • Maybe, with a few revisions it could work.
  • Don't be absurd, it's a crazy plan.
