PokerPro hits Macau and Michigan
Published:  01 September, 2007

PokerPro has two new installations to celebrate - one in Macau, China and one in Michigan, USA.

PokerTek has installed five PokerPro tables in the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel and Casino in Macau, the world’s largest gaming market. The installations were performed by Aristocrat, PokerTek’s international distribution partner and include four PokerPro ten-seat tables and one PokerPro Heads-Up table.

“Bringing PokerPro to Macau is a major milestone,” said Lou White, Chief Executive Officer for PokerTek. “Thanks to our technology, PokerPro will enable operators to offer live poker to their guests, while assisting with the issue of dealer shortages in the region.”

“Poker’s popularity is in its early stages in Macau, providing us a great opportunity to introduce new players to this universal game,” said Mr. Ciaran Carruthers, Chief Operating Officer for StarWorld Hotel and Casino. “StarWorld Hotel and Casino is innovative in bringing the latest electronic games to our customers and we are proud to be the first operator here to offer live poker by installing PokerPro.” This installation of PokerPro coincides with the relaunch of StarWorld’s 3rd level gaming floor.

The Galaxy Starworld installation is the latest in a string of recent Aristocrat successes leveraging PokerPro. Recently, Germany’s Casino Wiesbaden installed an additional table due to the game’s popularity at the property, in addition to a new installation at Club Tropicana in the Philippines.

“There has always been strong interest in PokerPro, and the Macau market was no exception,” said Steve Parker, Group General Manager of Sales, Marketing and Research & Development at Aristocrat. “As time passes and regulatory hurdles get cleared, we have begun to see more interested operators convert their interest into action.”

Meanwhile, Four Winds Casino Resort in New Buffalo, Michigan, has opened the world’s largest automated poker room, running exclusively on PokerTek poker tables.

The Four Winds Poker Room features fifteen PokerPro 10-seat tables and four PokerPro Heads-Up tables.

The Four Winds property, which opened on August 2nd, is owned by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and managed by Lakes Entertainment. Four Winds has over 3,000 slot machines, 100 table games, 6 restaurants, 5 bars and 165 hotel rooms in addition to the 19-table poker room.

“Four Winds is committed to delivering the best gaming and entertainment experience possible and PokerPro is part of that commitment,” said Matt Harkness, Four Winds Casino Resort General Manager. “We are proud to open this state-of-the-art, all-PokerPro poker room.”

“The Pokagon Band has been an ideal partner for PokerTek’s largest installation to date,” said Lou White, PokerTek’s Chief Executive Officer. “Their commitment to electronic poker is phenomenal, as evidenced by the size and quality of their new poker room. PokerTek is pleased to be working with an operator whose dedication to making this room a success is only rivaled by their desire to exceed player’s expectations by offering such a broad range of game offerings, tournament schedules and major tournament satellite events.”

“We’re going to offer the best action in the region,” said Harkness. “Our tournament schedule is second to none, our games are all reasonably priced and playing on PokerPro gives players more action with fewer hassles and distractions.”

Poll

Will the plans for Russia's 'remote' gaming areas go ahead as the State Duma has described?

  • Yes, almost certainly. It's a great idea.
  • Maybe, with a few revisions it could work.
  • Don't be absurd, it's a crazy plan.
