Cannery Casino Resorts is sold

Crown Ltd, Australia's largest casino company, has split from Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd, making a clear separation between James Packer's gambling and media businesses.

Shortly after going solo, Crown announced that, subject to US regulatory approval, it is to buy Cannery Casino Resorts, which operates two Las Vegas casinos and is building a third, and also operates a racetrack and casino in Houston, south of Pittsburgh.

"Crown's skills and experience in operating successful locals' casinos will enable us to grow the Cannery Casino business further," Executive Chairman James Packer said, commenting on the deal.
