Alfor SIA, the Latvian subsidiary of Novomatic Holding Austria, was named as the most dynamic company in the Latvian economy by Latvian magazine Kapit ls on account of its annual growth rate of 252 percent in the 2006 calendar year.
It also ranked at 15 of among the most valuable Latvian companies, appearing among banks, telecommunications companies, energy suppliers and logistics companies in the survey.
Alfor has around 1,000 staff and 135 electronic casinos, and achieved a turnover of 42 million Latvian Lats (€60 million) in 2006. The company's new regional headquarters near the Riga Airport were built with an investment of 3.5 million Latvian Lats (€5 million).
According to Novomatic CEO Franz Wohlfahrt, the exports of the subsidiary Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH (AGI) in 2006 to Latvia alone exceeded €20 million.
The Novomatic group currently operates a total of 5,100 gaming machines in the three Baltic states.
