Casinos on the cards for Japan?
Published: 01 February, 2008
The ruling political party in Japan intends to work with other political parties and submit a bill to the Japanese government aimed at legalising casinos this year, according to Jiji Press and the Macau Daily Times.
In 2006 the Liberal Democratic Party drew up outline proposals for a series of resort-style casinos, and in the light of Macau's success at attracting high-rolling Asian tourists, may try to draft a bill for consideration in the first half of 2008. Apart from legalising casinos, the bill would propose a regulatory framework.
