ICE and ICEi numbers up
Published:  01 March, 2008

A drop in attendance figures of almost six percent over the first two days at the Amusement Trade Exhibition International (ATEI) in London, this January was explained by the event organisers as the result of "consolidation and uncertainty" in the coin-op market, but both zones of the International Casino Exhibition (ICE) showed year-on-year growth in visitor numbers.

Attendance at ICE grew by almost nine percent, to a high of 9,370 visitors, while ICEi, the zone dedicated to remote gaming, saw a leap of almost 25 percent to 2,555 visitors over the first two days. Between them, ICE and ICEi attracted more visitors than ATEI - the first time in the event's eight-year history that this happened. By the end of the third day, ICE attendance had grown to 10,111 and ICEi attendance to 2,861 unique visitors.

At the event, organiser of ICE and ATEI, Clarion Gaming, joined forces with the European Casino Association (ECA) on an agreed programme of collaborative marketing, promotion and development initiatives. The agreement applies to the development of existing events and to the creation of new projects relating to the casino industry in Europe.

Next year's ICE/ICEi takes place at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, UK on 27-29 January 2009.

Poll

Will the plans for Russia's 'remote' gaming areas go ahead as the State Duma has described?

  • Yes, almost certainly. It's a great idea.
  • Maybe, with a few revisions it could work.
  • Don't be absurd, it's a crazy plan.
