Genting Stanley is to partner the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, UK, in a proposed £90 million project to develop a leisure and entertainment complex, including a large casino, at the NEC. The development is the first phase of a larger plan for the NEC site to deliver a range of leisure and business facilities to complement the current exhibition halls and arena.
Details are still being developed, but a spa, hotel, high quality bars and restaurants, and a casino, together with other leisure attractions, are proposed for the complex. The casino is expected to occupy less than ten percent of the floor area.
The NEC Group has long argued that the NEC represents a very capable and unique site. According to the NEC, the proposal by Genting Stanley is set to create in the region of 1,000 jobs, to transform the NEC's offer, and in doing so, provide a platform to allow the NEC to compete in a highly competitive global venue market, as well as to grow the £2 billion economic impact and almost 29,000 jobs that the Group contributes each year to its region's economy.
Will the plans for Russia's 'remote' gaming areas go ahead as the State Duma has described?
