BREAKING: Hippodrome switches to agave straws

In a shock move, London Leicester Square entertainment venue The Hippodrome Casino is introducing agave straws across the whole establishment starting Sunday 1st November 2020, replacing paper alternatives. Made of biodegradable materials that closely resemble the look and feel of a plastic straw, the move coincides with recent government legislation banning the use of plastic straws.

Supplied by MexEco but made by Penka, the straws use PolyAgave – a combination of bioplastic materials consisting of vegetable fibres and by-products of agro-industrial processes. Designed and manufactured in Mexico, the natural product is approved by the USDA, FDA, is certified to come into contact with food and free of metals.

The eco-friendly straws will be distributed across all of The Hippodrome Casino’s bar and restaurant concepts including the brand-new rooftop and the award-winning Heliot Steak House.
