Renowned casino owner cheats death

Owner of London’s much-loved Hippodrome Casino, Simon Thomas, has cheated death while on a business trip to Nevada. Thomas, 54, was attending a conference organised by the University of Nevada Las Vegas International Gaming Institute, a gaming-specific Executive Development Programme at Lake Tahoe. Thomas gave a speech about the development of the Hippodrome and acted as a ‘celebrity judge’, reports say.

While checking emails at the lake shore and enjoying a picturesque sunset, Thomas was charged by a wild bear and was lucky to escape unharmed; it is thought that the bear wanted to check its own email, fleeing when Simon refused to share.
